1 Welcome Letter
Monday July 8, 2024 TBA
Dear Fellow CTE Professionals:

Welcome to the 2024 Kentucky Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Program! The annual CTE Summer Program truly is a statewide professional development conference created by and presented for all CTE teachers, administrators and counselors. The Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education (KACTE), the professional association of CTE teachers and administrators that manages the annual CTE Summer Program, is grateful for your attendance and participation.

The 2023-24 year has been one of continued growth for the CTE community. Students continue to receive the highest quality in-person learning. Student organizations are conducting leadership training and competitions. The importance of CTE in our schools and communities is recognized statewide. With passage of HB499 in the 2024 General Assembly session, access to CTE pathways and equity in instruction are available for every student.

KACTE will move forward in the 2024-25 administrative year with the theme of Advocate:  Tell the CTE Story. KACTE works for you with our professional development grants and opportunities, the KACTE Leadership Fellows Program, the CTE Learn on-line professional development portal, advocacy through our agreement with McCarthy Strategic Solutions, and scholarship opportunities for members, pre-service CTE education majors, high school seniors, and classroom teachers.

The annual CTE Summer Program is a product of the entire CTE community, but it would not be possible without the diligent work of the 2024 Summer Program Planning Committee. I take this opportunity to publicly thank each committee member for his or her involvement in the planning process.

As the organization responsible for implementing the CTE Summer Program, KACTE is grateful for the support provided by the Kentucky Department of Education's Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE), the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), and other partners and stakeholders. The association is extremely appreciative of their support.

As you begin to make plans for the upcoming school year, I hope you find resources at the Summer Program that will greatly improve your instruction. Please take advantage of the interactions and networking opportunities you will find in The CTE Meeting Place, as well as the content specific and general knowledge sessions.

It is our hope that you will continue your dedication to CTE -- as well as supporting and joining KACTE —and encourage others to do so, as well. KACTE can only continue to provide outstanding services, benefits, and opportunities to CTE professionals with the support from members across the Commonwealth.

Sincerely,
Josh Mitcham
2023-24 KACTE President
